I want to delete a virus?

I have Windows 7 and i recently got a virus. When I had XP all i had to do was go into search and type the virus and delete it.. How can i do that with Windows 7? I use the antivir virus program.

FYI there's no such thing as deleting a virus...or any other infection for that matter and having a clean bill of health...
