    better performances
    « on: March 27, 2011, 08:32:54 AM »
    Hi everyone,
    I have an HP mini 210-2000 with an Intel Atom  CPU N455  @ 1.66GHz , 1666 Mhz, 1 core,
    1 GB ram
    running W7 starter edition.

I love the little thing if it wasn't that it' s slow and does not like doing too many things at the same time...sometimes even 2 things!

I know it was designed to be soo... but is there any way to make faster and capable to handle more at the same time?
    expanding to 2 GB ram?
going to back the lighter XP?
anything else I don't know that I could do ... and would work?
    Thanks a lot.
    g.

!st you will need to see if that HP will run XP....some do not have XP drivers...
As always more RAM is usually a good thing....
Your limitation is the CPU though.

I see my CPU...and I assume there not much, if  anything at all, I can do about that?
from the performance ?chart? (that line going up and down to show the actual ram and cpu usage in that specific moment) i normally can see :
about 750 memory and CPU 50 to 70 % ( if i am not using much).

however with a couple of web pages open (google ch.) - skype running - itunes playing a song and a word page on which i work : the same figures stay stable on 950 with an 85 to 95 cpu percentage?

Would you say from these figures that extra Ram will at least make a noticeable difference?
What i would truly love to see is quicker reactions to commands, and also, though not primarely, ability to handle multiple tasks...
      thanks.

You guessed right ...those Atom CPU's can't be changed out...
All i do know is more RAM always helps...but don't expect miracles...just overall smoother performance...
What OS is preloaded ? ?

DLoad install and run Startup CPL from Mike Lin...
I believe it runs on starter edition...
Use it to get your running background apps under control...NOTE dont turn anything off if you don't know what it does...
It will place an applet in your Control Panel for future access...

It is also worth noting that as to what other softwares(Scanners, Protection softwares) were added and running that made your system slow. I  use a Win 7 Starter 1Gb RAM netbook that displayed this symptoms. Removed all Unwanted Trial versions and installed system scanners and used a simple free antivirus, Windows Firewall with MBAM and SAS for a weekly PC check up. Using StartupCPL also helps improves booting system delays.

        Something wrong there....

        Download Process Explorer: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
Unzip ProcessExplorer.zip, and double click on procexp.exe to run the program.
Click on View > Select Colunms.
In addition to already pre-selected options, make sure, the Command Line is selected, and press OK.
Go File>Save As, and save the report as Procexp.txt.
Attach the file to your next reply.

Has nothing to do with the cpu running at 50% or higher
