got everything working on the computer. got the motherboard disk to work but cannot get Microsoft office xp to load. it wont pick up the dvd disk or microsoft office disk. Some help please!!

Microsoft Office is a suite of applications including Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc

Yes. It's an operating system. With all that that implies. So is Oracle Solaris.

Yes.  It many programs bundled with it in the same manner as MS Windows.  It comes with Firefox web browser, OpenOffice office suite, a video player, a PDF viewer, a music player, and various other programs already installed.   In other words, it's a fully functional OS.
