    HP Pavilion Hard Drive Replacement
    « on: April 07, 2011, 05:55:24 PM »
    HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook
    Intel(R) Core (TM) i3 CPU M330 @ 2.13GHZ
    4 GB Ram
    64=bit Operating System.
    Windows 7 Home Premium

My Hard Drive Is Failing I Need A Replacement But I Am Not Sure What The Actual Size I Would Really Need
Hp Won't Answer My Question Unless I Pay Them $20 For One Time Tech Support

I Want To Try To Repair It Myself, Last Time I Took A Laptop To The Computer Repair Place He Didn't Know Anything About Factory Images or How to Use Them.
So I'm Not Really Going To Trust Him With This.
I know it's Size Is In Inch's But I'm Not Really Sure
I'm Sorry I'm New At This Any Help Would Def Be More Than Welcomed :)
    Thank you

    1.  What makes you think hard drive is failing?
    2.  Is computer past warranty?
    3.  There is no listing for HP Pavilion dv6; http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteHome?cc=us&lc=en

when i boot it up it says Hard Drive intimate failure and asks me to back up everything.
it was fine last night but i went to boot it up today and it kept restarting i did system repair a few times it finally did start but started saying that.
the warranty has expired hp wont even answer my question about hard drive size
so i searched the net for the hard drive intimate failure to figure out what it is.

it was fine last night  i shut it down like normal.

That's the built-in hard drive S.M.A.R.T. monitoring, it's definitely going bad & can fail at any time.
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T.
It's a 2.5" notebook drive, probably SATA interface, but let's be sure:

You will need the Recovery CD's that came with it.  If you can backup all your important stuff, & then install Macrium Reflect to create an image of the entire hard drive, that will be a lot easier than starting from scratch with the Recovery CD's.
