Not really a question for the virus board as there is nothing that needs solving.
I read on a totally different sites board another way to check for viruses or suspect files was to -
"Boot the computer in safe mode and do a search for everything created within a few days before the virus arrived.
Delete everything in any user folder (except known good docs and photos) together  with any odd program folders".
Now, whilst l myself always use this site, l'm just questioning that statements validity. What exactly is a user folder then?
If l do a search, l get the following paths ------
    C:\Documents and Settings\<my name>\Application Data\.......etc
    C:\Documents and Settings\<my name>\Recent\...................etc
    C:\Documents and Settings\<my name>\Local Settings\............etc
    C:\Documents and Settings\<my name>\Favorites\............etc
    - and so on.
Surely these are all user folders and if everything was deleted, then that would cause one big headache!
Could someone please confirm whether l am reading this right.
    Thanks

    Allan

Ignore the information from the other board. It's not only wrong, it's stupid.

Thanks for the quick reply Allan (just as l thought!)
Can you just confirm though, those paths that l listed that have my name in them, are they classed as "user folders" (sorry if that's a dumb question)
      Regards

      C:\Documents and Settings\username
is the user folder. Everything within that are user's folders.

        You're welcome.

And btw - correct military radio parlance is simply "out", not "over and out". Just a bit of totally unnecessary information I thought I'd pass on (I was responsible for the battalion command net back in my days in the service).
