    computer probs

    hey guys i bought computer parts(ram motherboard cpu case+ps and hard drve) i have put 2gether myself(cert 2 in I.t) and i get a screen at startup with options like boot menu and stuff i figured i had to tell it to boot from cd to install windowss but whenever i put n a keyboard itdoesnt work so i cant press F12 and get in2 boot menu. any ideas? usb slot is wired

    parts:

    4Gb ram ddr3
    1TB samsung internal hard drivE
    Gigabyte 880GA-UD3H(motherboard)
    AMD phenom II

    The keyboard has to be present before you turn on power.

      Does the keyboard have lights? Do they flash?
      You may need another keyboard.

      Try different usb ports. I have this happen to me on occasion too. Try a port, if it doesnt work, restart, move to next port, making sure its plugged in before you turn it back on ^^^^
      Trial and error worked for me on this one :P

        Does this computer only have USB ports for a keyboard, or does it also have the older PS/2 port? Some with a PS/2 ( round port ) have the default in the bios set to only use this port. You need a PS/2 keyboard to be able to get into the bios to tell it to use USB.
