    Audio Issues with some games
    « on: April 27, 2011, 02:56:25 AM »
This is frustrating me to no end, and I can't figure it out.

I went away for a few days, and when I came back, I found that something was up with my audio. I'm not sure how it happened, (though I have an idea) but I do know it was fine before I left. Basically, my problem is that with some Executable games, not all though, my audio gets all choppy and echo-y. Like I said, it was working fine before, so I don't know what's going on. Is it perhaps an issue with the drivers?

    Welcome to ComputerHope!

It could be a driver issue or it could just be a setting issue. Could you post your full system specs and also give information on your speakers? Are the speakers stereo (2 or 2.1) or some form of surround speakers (4.1, 5.1, 7.1, etc.)? And what games?

Also, it may or may not be the cause, but knowing what you think might have happened could help in finding a solution. There no such thing as too much information when trying to diagnose computer issues online. Sometimes things people think are irrelevant are actually key to figuring out what's wrong.  ;D

It's apparently not what I thought, I though someone had messed with my settings. Anyway, my specs are:

      AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+

2.41 GHz, 1.25 GB of RAM

      My speakers are 2.1

      Nvidia Drivers

I'm not sure where to get the complete specs.

Need to know what your sound card is. Is it on-board or separate? If it's on-board, what is the make and model of the motherboard? If it's separate, what is the make and model of the card?

And also you said with "some" games. Does this mean some work and some don't, or do all of them have this issue? If it's specific games, what games are you having problems with? What games are you not having problems with?

Again, my sound was working 100% fine before, but I got back from a weekend trip and it was messed. So something happened. The games that were affected include: Grand Fantasia, RPG Maker, Mugen, KitsuSaga and Minecraft.

        http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=386

Download and install the Vista audio driver:
        Audio Driver   Realtek   6.0.1.5436   37.0 MB   12/11/2008

*The page doesn't say it's for Vista, but the actual file name does. The other audio driver there is for XP.

Nope. That didn't help, though thanks for trying. I still get the audio lag.

Well, I ended up having to re-install windows anyway. That fixed it. Thanks for the help though.
