    Why not install them both?
    On separate partitions.

Because that would require the purchase of two licenses.

at least, I see 32 bit windows still alive. without 4+ gb of ram, 32 bit will do.

I hear programs have better performance on 64 bit windows IF they are native 64 bit programs. I guess for most people, they are not using too many 64 bit apps?

    Geek strikes again...

PS...there are very few apps written in native 64bit...
But they will eventually catch up.
Right now i don't see it being worth it...

i think 64 bit would be better. most 32 bit apps install anyway just in a differnt Program Files directory. and 32 bit will be a out of date OS in the near future.

That is true. It is not just the question of reading more memory. The Intel-AMD 64 bit instruction set is now a mature CISC that surpasses anything else widely available. It can lead to very powerful optimized code that can be much faster than anything up to now. Time will tell.

64 bit Windows 7 is backwards compatible with 32 bit applications made for Windows 7. It may have problems running programs not built for Windows 7. Fear not, just install XP mode to run your application. XP Mode can be downloaded free from Microsoft.

64 bit is more favorable to users who are using applications heavy on system resources. I am running Adobe CS5 without any problems on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I was able to add memory more than 3.2 Gb which helped alot in what I do.

          Thank you very much!
