IE address problem
« on: August 24, 2005, 12:17:06 PM »
I have emptied or deleted all files/folders that would place a web site in the drop down box. I still have several that show up when I begin to type in text. Any idea where they may be residing?

Try this... On that text box where they appear, press the down arrow key, and put your mouse over the first entry that shows up... Press the delete key until all entries are gone... This should solve your problem  ;)

The IE address bar will not let me delete entries directly from the drop down box. I have had to clean favorites and history to remove entries. There are, however, entries that I can not remove. Are there other locations that the address bar pulls from?

Your favorites always stay as entries...

Try using a program such as Crap Cleaner

Thanks Raptor. Good program, but it did not find the addresses. The addresses that I can not delete are placed in the drop down box when I type the first w for a web address. They are places that I did visit, but have not been added to favorites.

Did youtag all the relevant options in Crap Cleaner? It works fine here.

Yeah I have this exact same problem, and ran CCleaner and Clean Up and it didn't have any effect

The addresses that are stuck in the address bar are all ones I've visited, not saved in my favourites, and it seems almost random how certain ones have got stuck in there and others havent.

Not doing any harm (well that i can see....) but would be good to be able to get rid of them!

Thanks

Try the following instead:

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. Remove Cookies, History and temporary files. (Tag Offline items as well)
