AMD Athlon XP 2500+
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:29:41 AM »
I used the program PC Wizard 2010 from CPUID.  I ran some Benchmark tests on my CPU and in the background i had speedfan running to monitor my CPU temps...the hottest it reached after a few tests was 65°C.  The Benchmarks were around 6-7 mins each....all of them made my CPU run at full load.  Should i look into getting a new Cooling system for my CPU??

I think I'd just keep speedfan running in the background during normal use of your computer and monitor your temps for awhile.  If they run a good bit lower under normal use, I wouldn't be concerned about this.

The retail package of the Athlon XP 2500+ includes both the processor and the manufacturer standard heatsink. The AMD approved heatsink leaves much to be desired and many users have opted to replace it by after market units. Its construction is of aluminum instead of the preferred copper and has a loud high-speed 60mm fan. The thermal conductor between the processor and the heatsink is a simple thermal pad.

sweet that article was awesome...didnt know my cpu could be overclocked so easily.  Another note...if i wanted to get the my Actual CPU Part Number so i could cross reference it with CPU World.  Would i need to take any precautions??  Before or taking it out and then putting it back in?

Your temps are fine.  65°C is well within normal range.
