Transferring files froma 32 bit PC to a 64 bit PC via router

My desk top PC is a 32 bit machine using Windows XP.  I plan on buying a new lap top which will be 64 bit Windows 7.  Will I be able to transfer files between the two PCs via my Verizon provided router, Westel a90-9100em15-10?
