    Doe's anyone know if its possible to buy old copys of photoshop, I know I could try e-bay. The reason I am asking is the New versions are way out of my money range.

    Well, have you looked on ebay?  That's the most obvious source for older software.  You might also try craigslist.org.

    And, have you considered alternatives to Photoshop, perhaps even something in the freeware arena?

    How old are we talking? Like version 2.5/3.4 that ran on windows 3.1?
