Duplicating an object within an image

Have you tried using the Clone tool?  Your program Help menu should give you pointers on its use.

No,   I am a total beginner and a "senior" to boot - trying to learn new skills! so  I need someone to take me through the process step by step (in written form):
For example:
1. Do this
2. Do this next and so on.
I wish to use this technique to modify the composition of images to create pre art copy as i paint.
I have tried to search for this on help but it seems a bit vague?
Thanks in anticipation of any help from a newbie so i can get right down to work
