Program Buttons not appearing on Taskbar
    « on: June 14, 2011, 06:25:11 AM »
What could be the issue when the running program's buttons are not appearing on the taskbar?

When I toggle using Alt+Tab, it shows the running programs. They are in Task Manager too. Just not on the taskbar.

All apps or just one? If one, which one?

All applications. The taskbar is just plain empty no matter how many programs running.

If you are running xp, try this tweak -> http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Read the first paragraph on how to run the file. Choose tweak #240 - Programs are not mimimized in the taskbar.
Another Microsoft support is here -> http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=139727

What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

The tweak does the trick. Thanks a lot!
P/S: The Microsoft Support article doesn't work because the file does not exist on the system.

No idea. It is the computer in my sister's company's branch office. She visited there and used the computer and encounter this.

          Thanks.

Right clik the Taskbar and select properties...is "hide inactive icons" checked ? ?
          If so uncheck it...

            Hi Patio,

It has been solved following the tweak suggested by Jason.

            Thanks.
