    hello all,

    please move this if it is in the incorrect area ?

    i typed a business form into my "office word 2007" program and forgot to save (duh !).

    now i need it again.
    is there a way to type this form into "office word" and be able to transfer it into one of my internet email programs to re-use when needed ?

    may sound easy, but i'm not an "office word" user...

    E-mail is limited to either simple plain text or as a HTML document.
    For other kinds for formats, the document must be went as an attachment.

    Even on this web site, I can not directly sen d you an Office thing inside tees box. But I can attach it mat the bottom.

    Do yew see it? It is 'test.doc ' and needs Word to open it.

    They can be sent.  I don't why you're having a problem.  Can you provide precise details of a case where you can't send?

      hello soybean,

        windows 7 running the ms "office" programs do not have a copy/paste option to paste a "word" file into an internet email program.
      nothing in the ms "office word" book explains the ability to copy a "word" file and paste it to the internet.

      1.Copy
      2.Paste to E-mail editor

        my at&t email account isn't recognized by the new hotmail, so it has to be saved in documents and added as an attachment when i go into my

        i just wondered why you can't send a "word' document by email through the internet w/o having to go through all the garbage of new accounts...

        This is the feature you can use with MS Word other than mailmerge with outlook express and you don't need any transfer to any of your account which is not available or existing.

        Everything you said here is non-sense.  You don't need a "new" account.  Any valid existing account will work.

        ??? Where are getting such notions?  He's said nothing that clearly indicates what you're saying.  He never mentioned SMTP.

          well guys,

          SHE found the answer.

          especially in windows 7, since outlook express has been d/c'd, you have to sign up for "windows live" in order to make the "send to" (via email) function work.

          you can send a word file via your email if you save it to documents.
          open your email program and click the attach key, and - "profit" !

          microsoft, being microsoft, set it up that way (it has other options, too, if you use them) for people who don't want to venture out of a "safe" 8-) environment.

          and it ONLY took two hours of phone filtering through three, 'hello, my name is ----.  here at microsoft we are here to solve your problems." to demand a second
          tier technician...

          may all your pc problems be solvable.

          I have an ISP pop3/smtp account, I have Windows 7, and MS Office 2003, and I am using Outlook 2003 as my email client,  and I can send Office documents via the menu feature I showed before.

          I have an ISP pop3/smtp account, I have Windows 7, and MS Office 2003, and I am using Outlook 2003 as my email client,  and I can send Office documents via the menu feature I showed before.

          I think there may be confusion between E-mail services and E-mail clients, myself.

          For example, the send to-> mail recipient options (regardless of the program, Windows Explorer, Word 2003/2007, etc) for me don't require me to "sign up" for windows live; although technically I already am, but that can hardly be relevant since it doesn't start Windows Live Mail when I do that, it starts Mozilla Thunderbird, which is configured for several E-mail accounts (POP3/SMTP with several . The application that is launched is easily configured in the "Default Programs" control panel.

          I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

          Well, I see you're still stumbling around in the darkness.  What you need is to install Windows Live Mail, not simply "sign up for 'windows live'". 

          you can send a word file via your email if you save it to documents.
          open your email program and click the attach key, and - "profit" !
          The Word file does not need to be in Documents.  It could be in a folder outside of Documents, even on an external hard drive or flash drive.   ::)

          He just wants to send it to his [or some  other] email. He does not want to copy and paste. He does not want to attach a document. He does not want to send a file. He just wants to type a form in Word or some other Office program and just send it to an email address.

          Why does that have to be hard?
          If his ISP is AT&T, it is because.

            soybean - mea culpa.  i did not add the word "mail" to windows live.
            i had an existing hotmail account and when i signed up for windows live mail it deleted my original account.
            i have enough email accounts, i don't need another one and i won't be using all the accoutrements, anyway.
            i'll stick w/ saving it to documents and attach it w/ my email.

            Not really relevant. The send-to -> mail recipient options in both word, windows explorer ,and other applications open your default E-mail viewer. By default, this is Windows Live Mail, thus the assumption that that is what you referred to, particularly since starting Live Mail in any fashion (including the menu options) will require you to enter E-mail account details. (this is <NOT> signing up for an account).

            This is the heart of the problem. The issue is well-documented by both AT&T and users on their forum. Basically, you can only SMTP  the none address AT&T gives you on yahoo mail. You can add accounts, but it is a awkward thing. And recently that have changed some things. They say nit is a security issue. They don't want a lot of unknown SMTP going through their servers.

                i used ie to go to "pop.att.yahoo.com" and got an error of, can't find it.
                i used ie to go to "smtp.att.yahoo.com" and got error of ie can't display the webpage.

                both addresses were given to me by at&t to check my pop/smtp settings and ports.

                i give up.
                i'll save it to docs and use attach button on my email account to send it.

                I believe you've gone off-track again.  SMTP issues with the AT&T account are not the issue here.  If you think this is the issue, can you point to exactly what comments from myming lead you to this conclusion? 

                myming has stumbled all around an issue of attaching a Word file vs. somehow embedding a Word-type file into a default email template but he did not say he would not send messages via an ATT account.

                OMG, unbelievable!  :o "pop.att.yahoo.com" and "smtp.att.yahoo.com" are not web addresses.  ::)  They are server identification codes that go into the account settings when creating an email account in an email client (Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, etc.).

                This thread is getting out of hand.
                 The purpose is to help the OP. The problem the OP has is related to the problems many others have with the AT&T SMTP protocol.

                 I have my own SMTP servers available to me, but I can not use them with my AT&T account. When I had Comcast I could SMTP all  day long with no problem. I even forgot what e-mail Comcast gave me. On the other hand, AT&T wants you to use their email as your default and maybe only service. It is posible, but AT7T is loath to ever let you use some other SMTP other that what they have. The SMTP requires specific ports that are blocked ny ATT servers.

                Here are his options:
                • Call AT&T and do as they say.
                • Do all email with web mail only.
                • Get an account with somebody else.
                He has already called AT&T.
                Apparently they can not help him with Windows 7.
                There may be third -peaty solution. But at the point The OP is likely fed up and does not wish to pursue this.

                So, ATT cannot use any E-mail client at all? I see nowhere in the OP's posts where they even suggest they are creating a second account, or trying to use a second account. Also, they can send E-mail just fine, they just want to be able to send a word document as an E-mail. presumably- and again this is a presumption- they are using the webmail service to do this.

                Are you suggesting that it is impossible to access an AT&T E-mail using a standard mail client like outlook or Thunderbird? if that is the case it seems dreadfully silly for them to have either SMTP or POP3 on a network facing server, since those would only be used by such clients.

                  Because the information from AT&T is for Outlook Express.The issue here is larger that the problems of just one user. The big companies are trying to destroy our freedom to choose our e-mail provider. Namely anyone like Incredimail, a small successful e-mail company that will lose marker share if the big guys push them aside.

                    answer:  because that's the way ms set it up.

                    That's also not the answer. I really have no idea where hotmail/MSN came into the equation, particularly since you use a ATT ISP account, and you can send mail just fine. The "problem" is that you use webmail (your actions with the smtp and pop3 account details makes it fairly clear you haven't set up a Mail client program) web-mail works through the browser and you cannot make your machine recognize a web-site as your E-mail application, you need to use an actual E-mail application.

                    The problem is that they aren't using a E-mail client application, they are using web mail. And personally I don't think
                    I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
