how do i edit my profile for this site ?

i've clicked into "my profile" and see no area in which to edit my existing pc information on this site.

1)  clicked on "modify profile" and the column of options left the screen.
2)  hovered>, did NOT click and the column of options left the screen.

what now ?

When you click on Profile and then hover over the Modify Profile tab there is a dropdown box with selections. Choose "settings"

Okay, now I understand. Please try deleting all cookies for this site, reboot, and then log in again and see if that helps. If not, please try a different browser and let's see how that works.

ok, i deleted cookies, rebooted and used ie instead of google or clicking on the computer hope email.

nothing changed.
when i hover -  the options show up to the right of the hover point, but when i move the cursor the options
disappear.

Instead of moving the mouse cursor to the right, move it straight down. What happens?

clicked on profile, the four options appeared.
clicked on settings, moved cursor down, options disappeared.

Please try one more thing - if this doesn't work I'm not sure what else to tell you (unless you want me to modify your profile for you - if so, just pm me):  Click on your user name to the left of your post. Then try "modify profile" again. Thanks - and sorry for the problem you are having.

clicked my user name and profile info is highlighted with "home/profile info/summary" to the RIGHT of it.
put cursor over "profile info" and "summary/show stats/show posts" appeared to the RIGHT of modify profile.
put cursor over "modify profile" and "account settings/forum profile/look and layout ETC' appeared to the RIGHT under "actions".

out of curiosity i did the same to your name and it repeated the above.

maybe it's a java game...

Are you using Internet Explorer? I also had this problem with IE and posted about it. I don't remember what the solution was but I'll try to find that thread for you.
An alternative would be to log onto this site using Firefox browser. All the "profile" controls will work fine with FF.

Well I found the thread but evidently we only found a partial solution. It still does it to me using the computer I'm on right now with IE-8. It does fine with Firefox.

While on profile , you have profile info.,modify profile and actions. Look for 2 little triangles facing left on the right side of your screen and click it once. This will move you to the modify profile section as being highlighted. You can now modify your profile under Forum profile on IE or FF.

I can't get it to <not> work. Works fine in FF5, Chrome, and IE8 for me. I'm thinking addons/extensions may be to blame. Or using something like noscript.

I get what you mean, Lol. I was having problem before on this one on IE8. They seem to be disappearing as they are shown to the right. Just tried it on google chrome and they are actually right below on what was suggested.

Look for 2 little triangles facing left on the right side of your screen and click it once

This is my only fix on IE8.

I found a work-around for getting to the drop-down menu under "Profile Info" using IE.
Hover your mouse cursor on the "profile info" box, then right click and hold while moving the mouse cursor into the drop-down menu. Now click on the option you wish to edit and your good to go.

Your very welcome. 
Also, with IE, if you want to enter a signature with more than 5 lines of text then you'll run out of access to the rest of the space in the signature box. You'll need to scroll to the right within that box in order to access a 2nd scroll-down bar.

I'll dig this up for an update:
FYI:
I'm now using IE v9.0.8112.16421
(IE 32 bit running on Vista Business X64)
The edit profile buttons are working fine, but when in the edit profile screen, the screen below the signature section keeps auto-scolling down (2 lines per second), creating a space between the signature/website sections (including everything below the website section).
This evidently continues endlessly (haven't checked 15 min> yet, but I'll let it run tonight while I sleep and check in the am to see if it is still auto-scolling}.
