dvdrom keeps restarting

My dvd rom keeps restarting in the middle of a movie or its makes stripes on my screen then i have to restart my whole computer, what can be the problem

Sounds like over heating.

Can you supply your full system specs and age of the computer. Can you tell us when the computer was cleaned last.

What do you mean it keeps restarting? Do you mean it goes back to the beginning of the disc? Does it happen with every video or just one?

Did this just start happening or has it been going on for a while?

Are there any other issues with the system?
