adobe pdf document

im trying to get into my study books and keeps telling me the adobe acrobat/reader that is running can not be used to view pdf files in web browser.adobe acrobat/reader version 8 or 9 are required. i have adobe reader 9 on my desktop what else can i do

First, let's be clear on exactly what is required to read those PDF versions of books.  Is it Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader?  They are not the same thing.  Adobe Acrobat is used to create PDF documents and it is not free.  Adobe Reader is a PDF reader that free to all users.

What browser are you using?  State  the version, also.

i tried on yahoo and google chroome i dont know it just keeps popping up that adobe pdf document box

Try reinstalling Adobe Reader: http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
Version 10 is the latest.

if that doesn't work, you can uninstall adobe reader and see if foxitreader works.

foxitreader is an alternative to adobe reader.

Exactly.
More than 90% of the time I receive documents in Powerpoint format, though.

Readers are available. Good free PDF readers are out there.
