    Superantispyware removal
    « on: August 18, 2011, 03:27:49 PM »
Hi, It's me again.  I downloaded and ran Superantispyware.  However, it kept popping up it's little window wanting to update.  I updated but each day it comes up again.  It's annoying so I went and removed it on the "Add/remove" function under my control panel.  However, it is still popping up!  How do I kill this thing?
    Thx, Micromos

Superantispyware updates everyday. It's prompting you so you have the latest definitions. It is a "feature".

Are you sure you removed it?  If you truly removed it, you would not still be seeing update panels popping up.  Take a look again in Add/Remove Programs.  Do you see it there now?  Is it on your Programs menu?  If you had a shortcut on the desktop, is it still there?

What version of SAS are you installing? The latest is on 5 already. Depending on your interval of opening/scanning or using SAS, it will update to the latest core definition. That is normal.

Everybody is overlooking a key issue here.  He said he removed it.  Yet, he's still seeing the update notices.  If he truly removed it, what he believes to be its continued presence could be a virus or other malware.

Ok, that is a valid reason to say its most probably an infection. Always thought about it. However, my thoughts was on the information about the updates and not on the removal part. It was not yet clear on how it was uninstalled by the OP.

I think actually even though it's neen removed the updat feature is still existing in the startup group...
      Not neccessarily an infection.

Why did you want to remove it ? ?...it's a decent tool to have...

I know, i dont think the OP knows how it works, updates come out all the time. Do Windows updates make you want to uninstall Windows ??   ::)

Okay, I did remove it using the add/removal tool on my control panel.  The update continued to appear.  I don't mind the updates occurring, I just don't want to see the notice all the time in the middle of working.  I also removed the shortcut from my desktop and from my flag area where the time is shown.  Last night I re-installed Super . . . ware so I could un-install it again but haven't yet and haven't seen an update yet.  I'll wait and see if it annoys me further.  Is there a way I can have it update without sending me a visual notice?  I'm probably a little picky.  Sorry. Thx, Micromos
