emachine won't recognize monitor
« on: August 21, 2011, 04:35:21 PM »
I recently told a friend that I would look at his computer because he didn't know how to reformat it or anything and he wanted it done.  He said that it has been sitting for months and he knows nothing about it.  From the looks of it, the computer is an emachine t3085 with just under a gig of ram.  It has a radeon 9800 pro 128m graphics card and is relatively clean inside.  My real problem is that when I connect the monitor to the computer and turn it on, the monitor just says that there is no signal.  I tried another monitor just I got no luck. I thought it might be the cord but it worked just fine on another computer.

Could be the video card. Check to see it's properly seated. If it is, try a different card and see if it works.

...the computer is an emachine t3085...
Are you sure?  No T3085 is listed?
