PC Speaker issue

I was hearing music over internet and suddenly PC stopeed working. I then unplugged the speaker and plugged it into the PC. It started playing only for few seconds and then no sounds coming up.

Sound is coming only for few seconds after plugging in the speaker.

Is it some virus attack / hardware problems?

Solutions to this problem will be appreciated

Do you have protection from Viruses and Spyware? Have you made any changes to your system recently? Which operating system are you using?
