I have the free version of Malware bytes Anti-Malware.  After I reboot, I get a popup that says:
(Open Event) Failed to perform desired action. Error code 2

Free Version or Trial Version? Most threads points to a certain setting under Protection tab for a paid version feature only. Have you tried reinstalling MBAM?

You are a admin on the machine right?

Since the free version doesn't run resident you shouldn't get any messages from MBAM because it shouldn't be loading at startup.
