SYSTEM SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY AND REFUSE TO START UP

Good day,
 what a shock! i was working on system today on ms word(typing)and suddenly system shut down and since then it refuses to on.What could be the causes and solution
plz help

Could you please provide as much as possible information regarding your problem? What happened when you were using MS Word, and what do you guess that are the probable causes which will prevent your computer from starting up? Also, what is your current operating system and your computers specs?

Thanks to allan,exactly what happened is that after the machine has went off i try to on it but it won't on
Am using windows xp OS and there was no specific sign b4 that problem occured.

When Allan states 'Exactly what happens.....', that what he means. You already told us the PC wont boot, repeating the same thing does not help.
Do any fans inside the PC come on?? Do any lights come on or flash ??  Is there anything on the screen at all ??  Is there power coming to the screen ?? etc etc

What do you mean it "went off"? Did you shut it down normally or did it shut down on its own in the middle of a session? When you press the power button EXACTLY what happens?
