Startup repair, new partitions?
« on: September 18, 2011, 12:50:37 AM »
Hello,

I recently had an issue with booting windows due to a corrupted bootloader. I tried using fixboot and fixmbr, which were only partially sucsessful. The first failed, citing an error about "not a recognized filesystem" chkdsk also failed with the /f parameter, but worked fine without it (read only mode).

Basically, the file system was fine. I used the automatic repair option as a last resort, and it worked! Now, the only issue is, instead of having two partions, (a main and a system reserved) I have four. Two "mains" and two system reserved. I've never had these before, and I don't want them. Why were they created and how do I get rid of them while still retaining the ability to boot windows normally (before the issue that required the startup repair).

Thanks for reading,
Diatech

Can't read status on G partition.  The only issue seems to be 2 System partitions.  You can Expand or Shrink partitions from Win7 Disk management.  http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/?ltr=P

Im sorry, I dont understand. Which one should I delete? I only have one OS install, I don't understand what these other two partitions are..

Here is the full status on the disks: http://i51.tinypic.com/zvc0i1.jpg

Edit: previously, I only had 2 partitions. A c drive (windows install) and a necesary system restore partition. The lost storage space isnt the issue. I just dont want all these unnecesary partitions..

nevermind. I threw caution to the wind and just deleted them. It didnt seem like anything important was on there. Eh, who cares. I restarted with out any data loss, and no boot issues. =D

Thanks for the help guys!
