opening of program and files problem

Good day! can any one help me solve my brother's problem of his laptop. he is using compaq presario cq62 with windows 7 home premium OS, he installed avast anti-virus then he scanned all his computer and found a lot of viruses then he deleted all, after that he was instructed to restart his laptop and so he followed. It was restarted and there's another scanning happened again, after the scanning process his laptop was started and thats the time he cannot open any program and files excluding photos. Is there anyone of you knows how to fix the problem? Please help. Thanx so much

A user have suggested to run system file checker(sfc /scannow) on command prompt as administrator have solved their problem.

I'm glad to hear that you got it all sorted out, but what did you do to fix the issue?

I have followed this instruction from another forum "(On windows 7) Go to Start/Search and type CMD In the Search Results right click Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator. In the Command Prompt type SFC /Scannow. Once it's finished corrupted files will be repaired and your .exe's will work once again."

Your machine may still be infected. I would strongly suggest you have the log files checked over.....
