Thank You
The hardware is not at all "serious." Its just the two computers in my specs folding on both their GPUs and CPUs 24/7-I set the CPU usage at 92%. I can really see how distributed computing works.
I can do my usual work while folding@home is running-I see no performance hits while running Ubuntu in a virtual machine on either system, for example. Gaming while folding is out of the question though. I just got a mid-tower ATX case for my AMD system so whenever I want to game I just lug it over to my TV. Previously both computers were on a test rack-the Intel system still is.
The AMD system theoretically uses 189 Watts max, the Intel system 159 W. As I'm overclocking both systems to the max, I'll put the AMD system at 200 W Max and the Intel system at 170 W max. I pay 0.5469 Yuan/kWh.
So {[370 W * 3648 hours(the computers have been on 24/7 for 5 months.)]/1000}*0.5469 Yuan/kWh = 738.183744 Yuan = 115.667 USD and 1349.76 kW so far. I want to pick up one of the Kill-A-Watt monitors some day-they look pretty neat.
