I have a computer that beeps when you turn the power on then shuts down. what are some commen fixes.

We need more info. BIOS maker, pattern of beeps, and timing. You are either running bad RAM or a blown video card, soounds like.

Alright that sight helps a ton. The computer was built by my dad who is in alaska! so he cant help. It doesnt reconize the ide so i checked connecters. it started up twice and is acting up again. it starts skips the main primary/secondary drive checks and comes up to the windows start options screen. safe mode/best setting/start normal. ive tryed them all it freezes everytime. I dont no what to do!

see if this helps go in to the bios<del or ctrl key>on boot up ..in the bios you should see setup defaults option chose that<f9 key depending on bios make> and save and exit ....more info on pc ram /mobo / video card etc freezing or hangs on boot up can be almost anything viruses bad reg hard drive playing up the list maybe endless please suppy as much info as you can to help you solve this problem..

Alright, dragon kt600,pny GeForce 64mb agp,atholon xp3000+ barton core 333fsb, 512 pc3200 ddr 400mhz.
I am going to reset bios now.

Didnt work. now it freees on the opining Soyo Dragon screen. what do i do?

alright, I think its a power supply. If not tthe chip needs resetting.
