How to overwrite in-game mouse cursor?
    « on: October 28, 2011, 06:40:16 AM »
Hi all, first time post here. Hope someone can help!

I've been playing PC video games most my life, and I'm starting to have difficulty tracking the mouse cursor with my eyes while I play. Many possible explanations for this, from physiological or cognitive degradation, to games these days just being much flashier. Whichever, I'm curious if there's software somewhere out there that can lay a more visible cursor over that which the game's design provides. I'm mostly into RTS's and MMO's, and well... a grey gauntlet isn't exactly the easiest cursor to see when you're dungeon crawling. >>

    Any leads?

Try selecting another cursor in Control Panel/Mouse/Properties...

NOTE: the settings will carry over into your games...some will not.

I was looking specifically for something that would overwrite the mouse cursor of the types of games I play: very flashy, full screen environment. The sort of games as would use the Windows cursor, I have no trouble tracking.

On further reflection, I think this may be considered mod'ing and probably against ToS for many online games. Alas. Thanks for the time, though!

It wouldn't work. In games such as those they describe the cursor is drawn by the game, not the system.

Although this is no help, You could try looking for options like "use system cursor" or something. It's often very game dependent.
