Cd rom Read problems
« on: September 06, 2005, 06:33:43 PM »
I'm running Windows XP  I have a HP DVD burner.  When I put in a new CD my Pc doesn't recognize that there is a new Cd in the drive.  When I go to My Computer and refresh "my Computer" it still shows what Cd was originally in. It only recognizes it when I load the whole PC.   When I try to install a game or something I can't use the second disk of my program.

hopefully some one can help?

That means after changing the CD you have to reboot the system.

        Okay,

Reboot the system without any CD in your drive.

Now put a CD, does your drive recognize it.

Check your cdrom in your device manager.

That means there is something wrong with the lens of your CD.

            Try the CD cleaning softwares.

Try opening the cabinet and pushing the wires.

Last try another CD drive, this will let you know whether there is a problem with your drive or not.
