Photoshop CS5 Heats Up My System
    « on: January 05, 2012, 11:58:40 PM »
    I've recently upgraded from CS4 to CS5.

While it's normal that the CPU heats up while doing graphic processing, on the previous CS4, it'll cool down as soon as I relaunch the program.

However, now with CS5, even after I quit the program, the CPU stay hot and never cool down.
I'll have to restart my computer in order to have a normal temperature.

If you are using a desktop computer open up the case and clean the fans/heatsinks with compressed air.

If you continue having issues with heat after cleaning the system, look into upgrading your cpu cooler or system fans.

Also make sure thermal paste is applied properly so as to maximize heat transfer between the CPU and the heatsink:

I don't think this is a heating issue.

I have both CS4 and CS5 installed, and if I use CS4, there is no problem.
But if I use CS5, the problem occurs.

If it's an overheating issue, it should happens to CS4 or other applications too.

The fact is, as long as I don't run CS5, no matter how long the computer has been in use, there will not be any problem.

Before you assume it's not a heat issue DLoad and run SpeedFan...
      Report both readings...Running CS4...and then CS5
It can be minimized to the tray for taking these readings...use both apps approx 10 minutes each.

Tried upgrading CS5? Maybe it's a known bug.

      try this:

      Edit->Preferences

      "Performance"

      Disable "Enable OpenGL Drawing"

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

I use both Asus Ai Booster and SpeedFan, both give me similar readings.

At idle (fresh restart), CPU temperature ~55-60 deg C.

Using CS4 to do photo batch processing (10pcs), the temperature would eventually goes up to ~85 deg C. Exit CS4 and it goes down to ~65 deg C.

Using CS5 to do photo batch processing (10pcs), the temperature would eventually goes up to ~90 deg C. Exit CS5 and it maintains at ~85 deg C.

          Disable "Enable OpenGL Drawing"

          It's always disabled.
