    Damaged Nano Reciever for mouse.
    « on: January 12, 2012, 11:11:11 AM »
    Hello ! i have a wireless mouse that I bought online .
The part that surrounds the chip has been damaged.
Is their anyway to fix it or do I need to buy another mouse?
And buying another receiver is too expensive.
The mouse itself is brand less as it was purchased off an ebay seller.
    See attached pictures pictures.

You need to buy another mouse.

What's damaged about it? Other than the plastic bit being broken off. Still, not essential for operation.

If it still works, I agree. You can buy glue really cheaply.

I can just glue on the plastic?
I wasn't sure if that would work!
The receiver isn't damaged , just the little plastic broke off.

If what would work? The glue or the receiver?

Glue the plastic on the receiver .
        Will the receiver still work?

Why shouldn't it? Many electronic devices are glued at the factory. Most pen drives are. I have a Seagate external HDD whose case is glued. Just use a very small amount.

Just make sure the glue is non-conductive.

and in any case just put it on the plastic parts you wish to join, not on the circuitry or components.

Will a simple elmer's glue do the trick?

I doubt it's conductive unless it states so on the bottle. If it's super adhesive, I'd put some on a cotton swab and then apply that to the plastic otherwise you might end up adding too much and making a little adhesive burger.

I would not use superglue. Elmer's range of glues is an American thing, I think, they are not available elsewhere so I cannot comment. The kind of glue that come with model plane kits is what I would use.

No.  Try 2-part epoxy, i.e. Devcon or equivalent.

Agreed! I was going to recommend something like Loctite Plastic bonding epoxy. Just look in any hardware store/section or ask someone in-store on where to find it. I strongly recommend you also pick up q-tips for precision application purposes!
            Shhh... I'm from the future.

            Toothpicks work better.

I agree 100%. Just get a tiny drop on the point and spread it out along the joining surface.
