    System has no sound
    « on: January 14, 2012, 04:31:03 PM »
My computer has no sound. In the bottom right in the system tray it has an x over the speaker and says No speakers or headphones are plugged in. I am using a M4N78 PRO motherboard and I have the disc that comes with all the drivers. The audio drivers will not install and prompt me with the error "We cant find hd audio device". My system has no audio and i cant download drivers to try to fix it, it's like windows isnt picking up the sound card at all.

Remove it from device manager and restart the system.

Then you have the wrong drivers...
Or the MBoard chipset drivers need to be re-installed...
        Laptop or Desktop ?

If it has a speaker icon in Windows, it sounds to me like the drivers are installed.

You can't unmute it? Did you remove the sound panel software from add/remove programs?

It could also mean that the onboard device is disabled or not started.
