I am running Win 7 Enterprise on a network with a local file server that runs Win Serv 03. I have reported this to the local helpdesk, but unfortunately I am on a military installation, and they are clueless.
In one of the many folders on the servers, viewed with Windows Explorer, I could see about a dozen folders. There was one that was empty and not needed, so I selected it, and clicked the 'delete' key. A quick popup message said 'deleting 2.12 GB...', and now they are all gone.
I have looked in the recycle bin and they are not there.
I have done a 'search' for some of the missing subfolders on the network drive where they were; none found

Any ideas how I can get my folders, and the files within, back?

    The files were probably hidden.

In the Recycle Bin, click Organise > Folder and search options > View > Show hidden files, folders and drives. Click Apply, Ok and then refresh the page to see if they're there.

thanks for the try kpac, but no joy.
I had already set the folder options to show hidden folders, files, etc; I did go into the recycle bin to verify this; they are not there, hidden, or otherwise.

when I ran rstrui.exe, the msg that came up is that "system protection is turned off".
The Network Enterprise Center generates a computer image for all machines on post, and this is part of that image; it cannot be altered.

        Any other ideas?

Rstrui.exe is not what Patio meant ... http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Do you have physical access to the server where the data is stored?

The site as in the room where the server is?

            What about this? http://www.diskeeper.com/business/undelete/
Seems to be one of the few programs that offer recovering files deleted on shares.

I can get to the server, log on as administrator. I can search on google, look at the weather channels, etc, but certain sites (websites) are blocked by the Army, including that recuva.

This diskeeper site requires money...hahaha, not a chance....the data isn't worth that. Its a different situation working IT on a military base

Thank you for you help. If you have any other thoughts, I'd love to hear them

Before you find out the problem with your computer, you need to backup your data so that the deleted files won't vanish thoroughly again...Try AthTek data recovery, it will help you with that.

In fact, the data still exsist on your computer although they become invisible. You can find them back as long as you don't store any file on your computer after realizing the mistake.
Just find a professional data recovery software like 321soft data recovery and your lost data will be recovered quickly.
