    Funmoods
    « on: January 19, 2012, 11:07:01 PM »
Looking through old files, I found something with a .abm extention.  Clicking on it yielded a message saying I didn't have the program to open it.  I did a search for a program to open .abm extentions, downloaded it, and not when I click my homepage button it opens to funmoods.com.  I know how to change my homepage back to what I want, but how do I make sure anything related to funmoods and anything else that I got in that download that I don't want is deleted from my computer?

I would be suspicious of anything that gives you free smileys, emoticons, and the like.
You probably have been infected with a virus.
I did a google search for ".abm file extension" and nothing relevant came up.

    Different spellings!

funmoods.com is currently unrated by WOT and after testing the software it is not a virus but does contain adware.

    Thanks.

@Starwind51 - The .abm extention is usually associated with multimedia files. It could have come from some sort of tagging software, multimedia editing/downloading software or other software once installed that included smileys.

Looking through old files, I found something with a .abm extention.

This very thing is what got me involved helping in online forums. I turned my first computer into a brick because I deleted something that I should not have. My best advice is to stay away from digging through system files, especially the hidden ones.

I almost always use google for web browsing, but for one site I have to use explorer.  When I went to open explorer today I saw that no matter what I do, "funmoods" opens as the homepage, and even if I get it to change the homepage I can't get rid of it as a toolbar.  So I did a search for how to get rid of these last traces of funmoods and found a listing for pctools which said to download it.  PCtools does not get rid of funmoods, it does a scan of your computer and tells you where you have issues.  To get rid of funmoods you have to buy the pctools product, which I certainly was not about to do after they tricked me into downloading it.  I had a devil of a time getting rid of pctools.  Anyway, I took a screen print of locations where pctools said I had issues.  I'm guessing the last bits of funmoods are lodged there.  How do I get rid of these things?

Ok, I figured out how to get my explorer homepage to stay what I wanted it to be, but how do I make sure there isn't any funmoods files hidden anywhere on my computer?
