Google Chrome browser pulls up previous link
    « on: February 13, 2012, 01:22:39 PM »
    Greetings!

When I click on a desktop icon, the previous link is displayed. I can get where I want to go by using the address bar or by using IE [64bit] browser.

This anomaly happened after I downloaded some pictures from my daughter about my recent vacation. Coincidence? She just, within a few days, had her PC serviced and security changed from Norton to Microsoft's free program.

I've cleared browsing data by deleting the address bar history and run Avast, c cleaner, spy bot, malwarebytes. All negative except Spy bot which came up with DoubleClick and MediaPlex, which I fixed.

    Thanks for any help!

      Thanks.

What I can no longer do is click on a desk top icon and pull up the applicable page or link, e.g., Gmail, AOL or Google Chrome. I get the last open page.

I just looked in Google Options\Basic\On Startup [for the first time since acquiring the PC]. "Open the home page" is checked and "Reopen the pages that were open last" is not.

Will appreciate you all's further thoughts.

Why not open Crome to your desired Homepage and create a new Desktop shortcut ?
