Help with usb mouse+keyboard (WinXp)

I will try to explain the the best I can.
I have two pc's:
1. Dell optiplex gx620
2. Custom

Pc 1 got a virus that caused the desktop to stop functioning. I didn't have a boot disk or a cd/flash drive to make one and system restore didn't work. So to fix it I did:

1. Removed PC#1's hard drive and hook it up to PC#2
2. Wipe PC#1's HD
3. Clone PC#2's HD to #1
4. Make HD#1 self bootable


The  problem is after replacing HD#1 the usb keyboard and mouse wont work. They work in the bios, and all usb setting are on, so not hardware. I'm assuming that its because HD#2 didn't have the dell drivers on it. The mouse and keyboard still work on PC#2.

I know there has to be a simple solution, I'm just not seeing it.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

The method you used is not the best solution. It may continue to give you problems. Each installation of Windows OS on a PC is specific to the hardware of that computer.

The notable exceptions is when the PCs are twins from the same company. In that case only the OS of one will work in the other.
