No you are not right. Much nonsense is talked about page file sizes. Many silly people think they can find a magic speed increase from playing with the settings. It is probably a bad idea to go below the minimum size recommended by Windows, and if you have an x86 (32 bit) processor, you should not make the the page file on any one drive larger than 4095 MB*. But apart from that, you can experiment. I did, extensively but ended up letting Windows manage page file sizes. if you have 2 or more internal drives, you could try a smallish (500 MB) page file on the system drive and another one at least 1.5 times your RAM on a different drive. However the average user is best served by LEAVING THE PAGE FILE ALONE. Windows 7 does an excellent job of managing the page file settings for most people. A paging file equal to RAM is plenty.

Years ago, and many versions of Windows ago and when RAM was a small fraction of today's sizes, adjusting page files sizes could make a slight difference.

I stopped playing with page file sizes about the time XP came out and since then Windows generally does a good job in managing memory.

Are you having some problem(s) with your system? If not, I suggest you just leave the pagefile as "system managed".
