School web filters
« on: September 16, 2005, 10:02:08 PM »
Since most schools use IE they put on a third party system which is downloaded opnto the browser but doesn't come with it. Download IE 6 on your home computer and put it on a floppy so you can put it on the school computer. Uninstall IE on that computer completely then put in your floppy and upload IE 6. The reason this works is because it reinstalls IE and it doesn't have the filter on it anymore. Please don't do this to look at porn or any of that sick crap, just to go to sites that the filter unfairly blocks.

Ever think those filters are on there for a reason? Also, if the school is using Windows XP Professional, I don't think it will work, becuase students will have a "student account" which is "limited", meaning that you usually can not install any rograms, or go into the program files... One more thing... Most schools have it where whenever the computer shuts down, and starts back up, it brings back all the settings that the school had before a student went on it... So your idea would probably only work for a day if you are able to tamper with files...

It's healthy to try & beat the system, better than being a sheep.

    How rebellious of you.

I like the 'sheep' part. I once thought that way. Have you found your place in our universe yet?

    Guess not.

I live in TN so the teachers think we know nothing about computers. I can get into the admin acount so easy it's not funny. They have something on there that sends us straight to the user account but all I have to do is press F8 while rebooting. And if that doesn't work I can edit it all from the Users and Passwords section.

Since this is their property, and they are allowing you to use it, there is nothing unfair about what they choose to block or allow. You might do well to remember that this is not your computer you're goofing with.

If you want to make your own rules, get your own computer.

In all honesty I would do something else to try and impress you. But don't you get it? They don't block special sites. First off, any site that doesn't have its own domain name is automatically cutt of. All invision free fourums. Even some educational sites. The point of this is to not look at porn to impress freinds on school comps but to help myself and others.

It is not only wrong but illegal. You (your parents) can be held liable for any and all damage that occur as a result of your actions.  There are hefty fines and jail time. Do you really want to gamble on sending your parents to jail because you did something foolish?

Throw away your keyboards! Hug eachother! Down with the system! School doesn't teach you anything!

Only riding around in a minivan listening to the Beatles does. Hey, it worked for me.

I despise metal, hate rock, and never liked the Beatles. The only thing this garbage has accomplished is to convince people that if you make enough noise, make it loud enough, and sustain it long enough, they will call it music. If there's a *censored*, my punishment would be to have to listen to that garbage for eternity.
