    hi i have a software to watch Internet videos but not to watch DVDs which one is it

    But Windows Media Player...(built in ) should play DVD's...

      I believe the default video player in Ubuntu 11.10 is Totem but I uninstalled it and use VLC instead.

      Also, you might want to check this Ubuntu help page about commercial DVDs: Why won't DVDs play?

            for 3D games like alien arena as it wont work and it is a good game or track mania u know HQ games

            I am not familiar with those games but here are a few suggestions.

            If these are Windows games, you can try to run them using a program called Wine but in my experience, you should not expect them to run as well as in Windows.

            According to the Wine database, TrackMania should run well in Wine (Link).

            In the case of Alien Arena, there seems to be a Linux version.  Here are some instructions for installing it: Link
