After simply googling 'How to disable Yahoo chat', google bought up 2,520,000 results. The first one was this

The Yahoo Mail page they use as an image  is about 6 years old and doesn't relate to what I see.

Spent more than an hour on Google.  You'll note all the current answers are 2-3 yrs old.  Things have changed.

You can tell by the link that  it works for Yahoo Classic Mail  ( I clicked it ) .   I am on Yahoo NEW MAIL and nothing applies to that. Yahoo has eliminated all the links to return to the CLASSIC version.  and will be dropping that soon.  Too bad,  its what everyone wants . . . as you might imagine,  all they did was screw it up.  It worked fine,  but thy  'fixed'  it anyway.  THANKS for your time.
