modeum has disappeared

I took my laptop home from work.  I am using a network setting  at the office.  I tried to use the laptop on my dial up at home, and found NO modeum.  Now what?

Also, the reason that I took it home was; I can dial out and it will connect to the internet, but it will not connect to the web site.  It gives me a "This page cannot be displayed".  Can you advise?

Check your TCP/IP settings and configure them according to the provider's instructions.

How can you dial anything without a modem present?
