    Yes, A Ethernet cable can connect the two computers.  It may have to be a cross-over cable.

    Does that answer you question?  You did not say if the laptop motherboard was functional. I assume it is and has its own power supply, its own RAM  its own keyboard and display and media with an OS.

    Is that want you wanted no know?
