Power on, but screen.stays black

I have a Toshiba satellite M55-S3293. While watching a movie, my computer shut  off. When I tried yo turn it on again, out powered on (lights lit up), but nothing ever came on the screen. No windows, messages or anything. My CD door wouldn't open either. I had to use the emergency release.
Any ideas what the problem is or how to fix it?
