ACD is a crappy image editing or viewing program.

I am not sure if this applies to Windows 98 as well, but you can set the file extensions and what program they should be opened with from the folder options in the configuration menu.

      Yup,

Best option is press "Shift" and then right click.

When you get the "Open With" option, in htat list use Notepad and check the always box.

      All over.

Check your file associations in Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types.

Download and install a program that will automatically associate itself with .txt files. I prefer:

      ultraedit, download from ultraedit.com

      Des:

Right-click on a text file and choose Properties.

In the Properties dialog box next to Opens With, select the Change button.

Select the program that you want to open text files from now on (the default is the Windows Notepad program).

Select OK and Apply and OK to save the change.

      Best regards,
      Doc
