    Application auto updating problem
    « on: June 30, 2012, 03:14:17 PM »
Hello, hope you have an idea about this...
Up until about 2 months ago the following have been updating automatically, as I have set it to do: Java, Quicktime, Adobe's Flashplayer & Air.  For about  past 3 months these updates download fine, but once get into installing they quit, saying Error Ocurred or Install was interupted, no real reasons stated. Tried saving the update and manually installing as Adminstrator, even though I am the Adminstrator, also tried in Safe Mode, got all the same results as above. Notified Java, Quicktime & Adobe, no help just said would look into it.  Norton's FireWall is not the problem and sees files as Safe.  The Win7 Professional and Norton's Internet Security 2012 update automatically with no problems.  No hardware or new software changes have been done & all drivers etc are up to date. My other two computers have no problem like this, however they are XPsp3 not Win 7 Professional. This pc's info is:
    DirectX 11 - Internet Explorer 9  - Intel i7

I notice that you have the 64 bit version of win 7 installed. Are the versions of the programs that you are trying to update the 64 bit versions?truenorth

Those application websites know what I have and tell me which one to use.  Some are for both 32 & 64 bit. One says have to use 32 bit because my internet explorer is 32 bit.  Also all these updated the products for 2 years that came on my PC.  Haven't changed those products, just keeping them updated automatically, until now. Thanks anyway.

Try temporarily disabling Norton to see if you can install an update. At the lower right of your screen next to your clock, right click the Norton icon and then click Disable AntiVirus Auto-Protect.

Yes, of course I did that at the beginning of the problem and since.

Is this the exact error message you're getting?

Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling the problem programs?

I am going to close this.  I know you are trying to help, but so far your questions are to much like what I asked my trainee's at work before I retired.  You are nice, but goodbye.

Have the Trainees come up with a solution yet ? ?
