Which host are you currently with?
    « on: October 25, 2011, 07:22:01 AM »
Hi everyone! I'm trying to look for a better hosting service, I'm having several problems with my current hosting provider 3ix and just decided to check out other companies then. I've red some stuffs about Bluehost, http://www.webhostingsearch.com/review/bluehost but I'm still doubtful to give it a try, so I'd like to get some first hand info about it. Has anyone had a back experience with Blue host before?

I use alot of different ones

http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/ - Reliable, fair pricing, and good customer support.
http://x10hosting.com/ - Offer a free and paid hosting package, both are good, alright customer support, but the free servers get 10m or so downtime daily...
http://www.uk2.net/web-hosting/ - Nice prices, good support, and I have used for two years now.

Bluehost ... haven't tried this, I might take a look.

I use www.hostgator.com and recommend it to a lot of my clients.
It is cheap, reliable, and easy to use. Also, the customer service is fan-freakin-tastic and speaks fluent English (because their support is actually based in the USA).
I have had issues with automated payments prior, but a call to their support line promptly refunded me the full amount and took care of the issue very quickly. (I had this happen twice, on two different accounts -- one was me, one was with a client, they had just changed their billing system which was understandable.)

Check this out for a few more providers:

I use a paid byethost account myself. No problems. Apparently someone or something tried to brute-force my cpanel and I ended up having to get my IP whitelisted for it, which was dealt with promptly by support.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Yeah, hostgator is also one of the good ones I've heard of. And they could definitely be one of my options. Thanks!

Strange you should ask. I am having a lot of trouble right now. If you had asked me a month ago, I would have named the host I was using.
          But thins happen.

The say you get what you pay for. The is not altogether accurate. You can pay very little and get nothing. You should get nothing only if you pay nothing.

You can take risks. Like I did. Otherwise, stick to the ones that have a reputation.

If your after a new host ... try x10hosting.com
When I first recommended them they had instant support, well-priced, reliable packages.
At the beginning of this year they did have some uptime issues across the board, but it seems to have all been fixed, and with their new websites ... I'd say they're the best host I've used.

Now my problem went away! How strange. Got update from Malwarebytes.
One last tip.Or two. See if you can get the name-servers before you vomit to a contract.
And when you do the contract, ask if you can get into your site before the domain name propagation is finished.
          Example:
The user name for geek9pm.com might be geek9boy
An if the IP is 199.188.250.51 then:
          199.188.250.51/~geek9boy
would get into the public_html directory

Do not try the example, it is not valid.

          Hope that helps somebody.  :)

My friend's family uses bluehost for their website. Obviously they aren't getting any heavy traffic so they won't need the top-of-the-line plan, but they've been using bluehost for quite some time without any issues.

Somehow I am thinking the only honest low-cost web host have to be outside of the USA.
But maybe hat is because I am American.  :-[
