number of rows in excel 2007
    « on: October 05, 2012, 12:25:16 AM »
    I have excel 2007 running on a 64bit windows 7 desktop.
I can not get more than 65536 rows in a worksheet.
If I try to import data from access, I only get the first 65536 rows.
Can anyone please tell me why the limit? I thought excel 2007 on a 64bit system could have more than 1 million rows.
I read in another forum that this limit applies to a 32bit system. The only thing I can think of is that I have also got excel 2003 installed on the desktop - could this be interfering?
    I installed excel2003 after I had installed office2007.
    Thanks for any enlightnment

Check if you have a template file (*.xlt) that was saved as an Excel 2003 (or below) file. Also check the save file format, (i.e. do not save workbooks as backward compatible format). Check Excel 2007 is not running in compatibility mode. After fixing previous things it may be necessary to close & restart Excel to see > 65536 rows.

Just for the record, a 64bit version of Windows is not required.  I have Excel 2007 on a 32 bit machine with Windows 7 and Excel shows 1,048,576 rows.

BTW, I am wondering why you want import such large Access database into Excel.  Why not do your data analysis in Access?
