Why are bps's so slow and how to improve

Howdy...For the past few days, my bps speed has decreased from 33600 to 24000. I did everything in my power, including checking the phone line, but I know it's the computer...PLEASE HELP...!!! Thanks...

 rntyler...... I would be checking with your service provider ....when you connect thru your dial up .........you dont always go through the same server ....and it's speed may be differant or it may be a temp server .....if there's maintainance going on .

What operating system is it.........and the system specs are.......does your modem need a new driver........what net set-up have you got...........

And how did you come to this comclusion? When you start with a  false assumption, you are unlikely to get the correct answer.

Upgrade system to adsl/cable/sat/broadband........is cheaper to do?.......there is such a thing as net drop out......<load>............ding.....
