Firefox 3 theme broken by FF 17 - solution
« on: November 21, 2012, 11:20:36 AM »
It seems that the author of a certain Firefox 3 theme for later Firefox versions has apparently ceased maintaining it. The last compatible FF version listed in the theme's rdf file is 16, and therefore later versions of FF (such as 17, newly announced) will see the theme as incompatible and disable it.  The file can be modified manually (see http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,133964.0.html) or an already modified version of the theme set to expire with Firefox version 99 is available here:

Download the file and open it with Firefox. I am running it with Firefox 17.0 and it is fine.

Alternatively, you can just install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/checkcompatibility/

It allows most add-ons to work with newer FF versions even if they weren't intended to.
