Trying to get a Windows 98 game to run on XP
    « on: December 10, 2012, 02:49:02 AM »
I am trying to get a Win 98 game to work with my XP system.  The game loads and plays, but crashes at unexpected and random times.  Everything just goes black.

Specifically I'm trying to get Thief I to run.  It needs the following (recommended):
    CPU:
       Pentium 266 MHz (or greater)
       RAM:
       64 Mb
    GRAPHICS:
            4Mb SVGA video card, as well as a 4Mb 3D Card (100% DirectX 6.0-compatible)
    CD-ROM:
       Eight-speed (8x) CD-ROM drive or faster
    HARD DRIVE:
       180 Mb free disk space

I have Win XP serv pk 3, AMD MMX 2.6 GHz CPU, 2 GB memory, nVidia 8800 GT x 2 video cards, Direct X 9.0, and more than enough NTFS formatted disk space.

    Is there any hope?
